First Contact
First contact turns out to involve a contact sheet.
An alien studies a sheet of photographic frames beneath the words “FIRST CONTACT”—a photography joke built around two very different meanings of the same phrase. The cyan and violet edge lighting gives the figure an otherworldly glow, while the black-and-white image frames keep the design anchored in film photography.
It works on the first read as an alien graphic. The second read is for photographers who immediately understand what they're looking at.
Why This Shirt
This design is printed on the Comfort Colors® 1717 Heavyweight Garment-Dyed T-Shirt in Black.
The substantial 6.1 oz ring-spun U.S. cotton has more body than a lightweight promotional tee, while the soft-washed fabric gives it a comfortable, broken-in feel from the start. The relaxed unisex fit gives the tall central artwork room to read clearly, and the garment-dyed Black creates a strong background for the cool cyan, violet, and gray palette.

About the Black Color
Garment dyeing gives the fabric a softer, lived-in character. Slight differences in shade from shirt to shirt are a normal part of the garment-dye process.
