This Nikon F3 trucker hat takes one of the most recognizable model names in 35mm photography and puts the familiar Nikon F3 lettering front and center. The oversized black graphic is intentionally simple—a reference to Nikon’s long-running professional SLR that another film photographer can recognize without needing an illustration of the camera itself.
Released in March 1980, the Nikon F3 succeeded the F2 as Nikon’s flagship professional 35mm SLR. It introduced an electronically controlled shutter and aperture-priority automatic exposure to Nikon’s professional F-series while retaining full manual exposure control. Its TTL center-weighted metering system read light through the lens, interchangeable finders preserved the modular approach of earlier Nikon professional bodies, and a mechanical 1/60-second backup shutter setting remained available when battery power was lost. Nikon also commissioned Italian industrial designer Giorgetto Giugiaro to shape the F3’s exterior, including the distinctive grip and red accent that influenced later Nikon camera design.
The design is available in two P423 Weekender colorways: Graphite with Black Mesh Back and Tan with White Mesh Back. Both pair the camera-model graphic with contrast cording, breathable mesh panels, and an adjustable snapback closure.
For photographers who carried an F3 professionally, learned on one later, still shoot one today, or simply appreciate Nikon’s manual-focus era, the model designation is enough to tell the story.
