I started shooting New Jersey bicycle races with my father in 1972, the year I turned 10. We'd come home, rewind the Tri-X in our Nikons and head to the basement darkroom to process it, make contact sheets, grease pencil the keepers and print those on 4x5 inch fiber based paper with the Omega B-22XL. Those were labeled on back and mailed to Cyclenews bicycling newspaper in Brattleboro, VT. We made $5 per published photo. This film launched my career at 9 years old. Having this mug is a reminder of my late father who passed in 2021 a few months shy of his 94th. He would’ve loved to have several of these film mugs. They’re more than my favorite films, they’re a zeitgeist of our warmest memories.
